A single piece of shellac coated wire is wound around each of the 3 segments of the armature 27 times, and fixed, or soldered to the copper commutator segments (where the brush makes contact) This kind of motor, sometimes called a "silver can" or a "Johnson" or "marui" motor is what comes as the kit motor with all Tamiya, and many other model kits. The stock motor class of racing is an ideal way to start. Most clubs have races where cars can run stock motors only, to make the racing more even. Some will only allow the silver can or Johnson fixed endbell motors, where as others will allow the removable endbell or tuneable stock motors or have a separate class for those as well.
