RCScrapyard ►FREE RC Classifieds: Buy and Sell Radio Control gear◄ AMB lap counters use a highly sophisticated software system in conjunction with personal transponders to count and time each lap the car makes within a specific time period, normally around 5 minutes.
A transponder is an electronic device of around 1 inch (25mm) square that is placed normally inside the body shell of the car in a position where it is protected from damage. On Buggies this is normally under the back wing, and on sedans (saloons) the recommended placing is in the centre of the front wind shield, so that if the transponder is dislodged during a race (and it does happen) the transponder can be seen to be missing, and the car can be manually timed for each lap using the AMB Software and computer keyboard.
